How a 1-2-1 consultation with a writing coach helped me get started

Are you struggling to get started on your book? I know I have been.

But this week I had the good fortune to spend some time with a writing coach. The conversation I had with her has unlocked something in my mind and since then I haven't stopped writing. It was the most useful and productive thing I've done towards getting my story written.

There are a number of reasons why I've been struggling with getting started - I don't know if any of you also share in these. Namely:
a) lack of confidence - the story I want to write is an important one and I'm worried I won't do it justice;
b) a lack of clarity re how to structure it - whose point of view do I tell it from?;
c) a lack of time - i.e. I keep making excuses as to why I don't have time to write because I hadn't addressed points a and b.

The conversation with the writing consultant allowed me space to get my head around some of these barriers and offered me some good techniques to try. And they really helped. I'm so grateful I had the chance to benefit from her expertise.

I am now really looking forward to our writing retreat in September as I think this is also going to help take my writing forward even more!
