The MANOR

Our May 2019 venue will be the stunning 18th century country manor house, situated on the edge of the historic village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, in south-west France - the same place that looked after us so well during our September 2018 event.

Comfortable, warm and welcoming, everything you need for a productive weekend is on site.

Writers will take workshops in the dining room; discuss progress with fellow writers in the library
and can hide away in one of the many cosy nooks and write to their heart’s content.

Extensive grounds, heated swimming pool, terraces, BBQ area and table tennis are among
the outdoor facilities.

All meals* are provided, including:

- Continental breakfast with tea, coffee and orange juice
- Lunch made onsite using locally-sourced ingredients
- Three-course evening meal with wine
- Refreshments throughout the day

Meals will take place in the manor dining room or al fresco in the grounds, weather depending.

* Please see terms and conditions for the full breakdown of what's included

About the village and surrounding area
Aubeterre-sur-Dronne lives up to its reputation as one of France’s most beautiful villages.
With a pretty central square, Romanesque church with a stunning façade and narrow streets,
there is plenty to explore – including the talles subterranean church in the world, which was
carved by hand out of the limestone cliff on which Aubeterre is built, more than 1,000 years
ago. Boutique and artisan shops, excellent restaurants and its very own river beach add to the
village’s charm.

The area is renowned for its beauty. Rivers meander their way through woodland and sunflower fields; birds of prey catch the thermals above rolling hills; while row after row of vines produce
some of the world’s best wines and spirits.

This is a place that allows you to leave behind the distractions of a busy life, and to focus on you, your creativity and your writing.

Aubeterre is the location for L'atelier des ecrivains - The Writers' Workshop, France
