guest tutor: helen cross
Helen Cross is the author of four novels, many short stories, radio dramas and screenplays. Her novel My Summer of Love became a BAFTA award-winning film starring Emily Blunt, and her novel Spilt Milk, Black Coffee is currently in film development with Mighty Atom Entertainment. She is an experienced teacher of creative writing and has taught courses around the world, including the University of East Anglia, UK, where she currently teaches on the new MFA in Creative Writing.

Sarah Tyley is author of Spaghetti Head, her debut novel, published in 2018. Previously she has had poetry and short stories published. Sarah has written since she was ten years old, getting her inspiration from her childhood on a dairy farm in Somerset, England, followed by many years of travelling. She studied an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and worked for nine years in overseas agricultural economics, receiving an Award for her contribution to International Development. She has facilitated workshops all around the world, and taught gardening at a french adult education centre. All of these experiences have proven very fertile ground for creative writing! Novel number two is currently underway.

Becky Slack is a journalist, editor and communications consultant who has been obsessed with books for as long as she can remember. She has written for the likes of the Guardian, New Statesman, Independent, Evening Standard and the trade media on issues as diverse as leadership, human rights, poverty and travel. She is the author of Effective Media Relations for Charities: What Journalists Want and How to Deliver it and regularly delivers training in effective communications. She moved to France two years ago in the hope of finding more time to write her novel, but hasn’t quite managed to do so. Yet.
